Description

1/12 scale model of the MotoGP bike used by Spanish rider Sete Gibernau to rank second in the 2004 MotoGP championship. The Japanese firm raced in the 2004 season with three teams: the “official” Repsol YPF Honda Team and two factory supported teams, Telefonica Movistar Honda Gresini Team and Camel Honda. All three teams ran the same bike, 2004 version of the RC211V bike introduced in 2001.

The three Honda teams performed remarkably in the 2004, managing to achieve 7 victories and taking 5 of the final top 6 positions in the championship, but they were no match to a dominant Valentino Rossi driving the Yamaha YZR-M1 under the Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha colors. Among the Honda pilots, Sete Gibernau was the best performer, managing to win 4 races (Spain, France, Czech Republic and Qatar), for a final runner-up position in the championship standings, 47 points adrift Rossi. The Camel Honda pilots took the other 3 Honda victories of the (2 for Makoto Tamada and 1 for Max Biaggi), helping the Japanese firm to win the Manufacturer’s Championship, 27 points above arch-rival Yamaha.

This model represents the blue and yellow Telefonica-Movistar sponsored RC211V used by Sete Gibernau during the 2004 championship. The model is made by Ixo, a diecast maker based in Macau (China), in a exclusive series for Spanish publisher Altaya.
